About Apple Productions
Apple Productions, the New York based film production company of NRI actor-producer Tirlok Malik has been producing films and coordinating shootings for Indian films that are shot in New York since its incorporation in 1989.
One of the most recent films that Apple Productions line produced is the 3-D film Little Magician which is releasing in New York and New Jersey. The film is the first Indian 3-D film shot in New York, and is directed by Jose Punnoose, produced by Navodaya films, and executive produced by N.G. John.
Apple Productions were also the New York producers of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the NFDC and Government of Maharashtra production directed by Jabbar Patel. A notable portion of the film was shot on location at Columbia University and other locations in New York, recreating the atmosphere of 1913, which imparted an authenticity to the film. The film also won Mammoothy India’s national award for his role of Ambedkar. Malik played the role of Lala Lajpatrai in the film.
Apple Productions has produced Malik’s own Lonely In America which became a pioneering film about the Indian-American experience with a cross-cultural theme. Lonely was shown in 74 countries and won many awards at 37 international film festivals, including Pride of India Gold Medal and Glory of India award of the Indian ambassador. Its other home productions include Love, Lust and Marriage with Deepti Naval, once again on the immigrant theme of chasing the American Dream and workaholism and its effects on a marriage. Also the documentary India at 50: A View from the NRIs of America, made for Doordarshan, the instructional video How to Flirt, Date and Meet Your Mate by Susan Rabin, and many others. His recent production ‘ARYA' is a psychological thriller, story of a man's journey to seek his true identity is would be soon be ready for release.
Apple Productions has also coordinated shooting of many other Indian films being shot in the U.S. with famous Bollywood actors such as Sanjay Dutt, Manisha Koirala, Mithun Chakravarti, Raveena Tandon, and others.
Malik lends to Apple Productions his expertise in making productions smooth and cost-effective without sacrificing its high production value. At present Apple Productions has many projects in development.
