"Arya" - About the Production


Tirlok Malik has always nurtured new talent whether it is in front of the camera or behind the camera. This is very well evident in his first award wining moving "Lonely In America" directed by Barry Alexander Brown and this movie launched the career of many of its cast. It was shown in 74 countries and 37 film festivals winning many awards.

With sequence of movies that he has produced and line produced put together with his experience for more than 14years with both Bollywood and Hollywood industry has definitely made Arya such a special film. Two years ago when Mr. Malik and Raaj Grover met Manan Katohora the writer for Arya, on going through the script they liked the subject and decided to give this story a life and agreed on to make a film with Manan as the first time director for this film.

A great team was put together and there were some solid pillar to the crew like Chung Pai as the director of photography, Editor Jim Mol, Assistant Director Brian Chang to name a few. Mr. Malik discovered the talents of Samart Chakrabrati as the main character “Raj” for his film followed by Manvi Dhoopar as Shawana, Sheetal Shah as Maya; who are making their debut in this film and like this there are 28 more talented actors.

The film was shot for 22 days working 10 hrs a day. The film was shot on locations with in New York and New Jersey. The shooting was well planned went on very smoothly without any major problems. The principal photography was finished on schedule, within the budget and the producer and director felt that they had the quality project in raw.

The biggest role after the production completes the shooting , is the role of the editor he is the one who reshapes and brings life to the directors dream and producers vision .Mr. Jim Mol as the editor for this film was appointed. He has been the editor for director Abel Ferrara's films such as "New Rose Hotel", "The Blackout", and "The Funeral."

Mr. Malik feels very proud when he sees the new talents get nurtured and he explores the artist in them. It is a thrilling feeling to present them to a whole world through this movie "ARYA."
